GPS Failed

This can be due to various reasons. The most common reasons are:

  • A weak signal, which can be affected if your device is inside a building or boat that has a lot of steel built in or is particularly high, so there is a lot of material between your device and the satellite.
  • You may be using Paotre on a device that does not have a GPS module installed. Such devices, (often tablets) can only perform positioning when you are on a local network.

Irregular Location Record

Irregular recording of individual data points during a cruise is quite normal and intentional in order to use as little memory as possible. Paotre has an algorithm that decides whether a data point is important for the recording of the route or not. If it is indeed important, the data point is saved and if not, it is discarded. The accuracy and the thresholds when a point is discarded or not can be influenced in the Settings.

List Settings

  • Notification delay: Sets the time after which the user will be reminded of undone list items via notification, after exiting the app.
  • Enable automatic notification: If this setting is enabled, the bell at the top right of the list view will be automatically activated after creation, so that the user will be reminded of undone list entries after a certain time.

Route Settings

The “Trips” subsection in the settings includes three entries. All three entries are parameters for correctly deciding whether to save a waypoint, because Paotre has an algorithm that strategically intelligently sets waypoints at such positions that are particularly relevant for recording.
