Why do I get the message: “GPS is currently not available”?
This can be due to various reasons. The most common reasons are:
- A weak signal, which can be affected if your device is inside a building or boat that has a lot of steel built in or is particularly high, so there is a lot of material between your device and the satellite.
- You may be using Paotre on a device that does not have a GPS module installed. Such devices, (often tablets) can only perform positioning when you are on a local network.
- It can also happen that there is a problem with the hardware, e.g. the GPS module is damaged or not working properly.
Please follow the steps below in order to solve the problem:
- Move outside in the open air.
- Make sure Paotre is up to date and install an update if necessary.
- Check the permission for location tracking. To do this, go to your device’s settings and navigate to Privacy and security - Location services - Paotre. Here, make sure that “Always” is selected for the “Allow access to location” option and “Exact location” is turned on.
- Research whether your device might not have a standalone GPS module installed. In this case, you should use another device to record your trips.
- Reinstall Paotre.
- Contact Paotre@p-reese.de.
